Living in the wild wild west
Ahhh, the eighties (cringe). That song by The Escape Club came on the radio as I was processing these pictures and it seemed fitting for the pictures of cattle and teepees.
Before Christmas, I decided to explore Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area, just west of Calgary on highway 22x. There are over 20 kms of trails, both in the trees and out on grasslands. I had tried to come here one other time but they don’t allow dogs, so Chester stayed at home this time.
Did people have allergies back then? I would be wheezing and sneezing around horses, cow and hay. But the foothills to the west of Calgary are certainly lovely. I hiked for a while among the cows – they just stopped eating for a while and stared at me.
Downtown Calgary seems like a stack of lego pieces in the distance.
I’m not sure what the name of this plant is, but it looks pretty all dried up.
I will put this area on my wildlife viewing list for the spring.
