Spring birding at Carburn Park
What a fantastic day of birding with the Friends of Fish Creek! Carburn Park was our destination and is one of my favourite spots in Calgary any time of year.
I learned that some ducks like trees and saw Wood ducks, and this beautiful female Mallard on branches today.
We were able to get quite close to a few birds and I finally got a decent shot of a Downy Woodpecker and a female Norther Flicker.
There were some exciting firsts for me today including a long-eared owl, which is apparently quite rare to see during the day. Sadly, I did not get a great picture. The Coopers Hawk and Red-Necked Grebe were wonderful to see.
Thank you so much for reading!
